The Secret Of Getting Visitors That Convert

When it comes to website traffic, the old saying "the more the merrier" doesn't exactly apply. Simply having lots of traffic will not increase the number of sales you have. Your goal in creating traffic is to attract targeted traffic, which will in turn, bring you more paying customers. You can have a lot of traffic coming to your website, but if they are not interested in your product or service, what good will it do to have them visit your site?

If you do a search on the Internet for ways to increase traffic to your site, you will find websites that sell software or monthly membership packages that promise to bring traffic to your site. Don't be fooled by these costly gimmicks. There are many ways you can increase traffic to your site for free.

What these companies don't tell you is that one of the methods they use to drive traffic to your site is paying people to "surf" the Internet. People log into a website, enter a password and their computer will automatically "surf the net", displaying different websites.

However, the person that logged in isn't necessarily paying attention to the screen - or even looking at it. The company that you paid may be driving "traffic" to your site in terms of visitors, but that doesn't guarantee more customers.

It may sound like a contradiction, but promoting free items can also bring in bad traffic. Yes, you may attract more visitors, but a lot of those people just want a "freebie". They might not really care about the services or products you provide, and once they get that "freebie", they may never return to your site again.

Now, that doesn't mean you should never offer free items they can definitely help increase sales in certain situations, such as a "buy this ebook and receive this free special report" offer.

Trading links and participating in banner exchanges may sound good in theory, but again, if targeted traffic isn't coming in, your sales won't be affected. Remember, traffic doesn't equal customers. If you have a site related to babies, it doesn't make sense to trade links with a site related to sport fishing.

Always keep your target market in mind. Who is your audience? Why should they visit your site? Having fresh, relevant, timely, and informative content will attract quality traffic. Once people come to know your site as a source of quality information, they will return when they need to learn something new. The more quality traffic that comes in, the more customers you will have.

By staying away from bogus websites offering promises of high numbers of traffic and sticking to proven methods of generating quality traffic, you will not only increase your site's traffic, you will also increase your conversion rates.

Cell Phone Blogging: Change the Way you Post your Blogs!

Cellular phones are exclusively for voice call functions before. It is used in places where there are no available telephone services. But with the advancement of communication technology, several innovations on the analog cellular phones were made. If before it is only used for calling purposes, now you can used it to sent text messages through its short messaging services (SMS). Blogging Tips.

After the introduction of SMS, multimedia messaging follows, where you can incorporate images, audio contents, and animations in your text messages. Mobile e-mail services innovates the traditional PC e-mail services, interactive gaming, capturing images using embedded camera, and other services are also taking place in the cell phone industry-thanks to the different communication specialist and experts.

The latest addition for new models of cell phones is the mobile blogging where you can now update your web blog even without logging in your personal computer. All the things you can do on Internet blogging-adding a photo from your cell phone or posting your thoughts or experiences on a new neighborhood, movie, concert, game console, or coffee shop-are done through your phone.

Barak Berkowitz, the chairman and CEO of Six Apart, a California-based company that is also pioneering in cell phone blogging, commented that this new feature will surely be a click especially phone manufacturers have already introduced the wireless Internet (WAP) and camera-equipped phones. He agrees that with WAP, people will be able to post or update their blog. At the same time, they can post pictures at the spot using their camera phone.

For those individuals who are still unfamiliar with blogging, it is a home page on the Internet that takes a form of a personal journal. All the entries in the blog are compiled chronologically which contains comments and thoughts on everything; in other words, your point of view about different topic.

Traditionally, you need to create your blog from your personal computer and post it on your own website or on a blogging community. But with the introduction of cell phone blogging, you can now use the service of your mobile network to transfer blogs to the web server. In other words, you can now post your blogs even when you are in your car or you are on a remote location.

Because of this development, computer specialists prompt to develop different software suited for such purpose. A certain software is developed to let you send images and text from your cell phone directly to a website. Another one combines cell phone blogging with location-based services. In other words, you will be able to use your phone not only to locate for areas of interest on a particular place; you will also be viewing comments that other people have left on their blogs regarding such areas of interest.

Currently, different mobile networks and other small start-up pioneer in mobile blogging are hitching the net. But Internet giants such as Yahoo and Google are now planning to enter the mobile blogging arena. Yahoo is now starting to test its cell phone blogging services and will be commercially releasing it in coming months. It just only shows that cellular phone blogging is becoming popular to mobile phone users.

There you go the newest innovation for your mobile phone. It is just a manifestation that your phone is not just for calling or texting functions; it can now be used for your blogging activities.

The Single Most Powerful Addition To Your Online Marketing Arsenal

Selling, or supplying online promotional tools, is a multi billion dollar industry, but how efficient are some of the most popular tools, and are they worth investing in, or are they simply a waste of time and money.

Online trading places you in probably the single most competitive market in the world. If you were simply trading in your local town your competition would be restricted to the guy half a mile away selling some similar products. On the Internet you are competing with possibly millions of other traders selling the same, or similar products as yours.

The Internet is a completely different animal and you need to tame the animal, or at the very least get to know it well, before you can truly make a serious income from your website.

There are various tools which are supposed to help in your on going battle for Internet Supremacy, but are they all they are cracked up to be, or are they useless time wasting pieces of computerized junk.

As you would expect, some are good and some are simply useless, others which used to bring in results, no longer do, and some of the more recent tools have taken over. I suppose this is only to be expected as the Internet like everything else is subject to the laws of evolution.

Where does this leave you and what new products are now available, but in particular which product or program is the next Big Gun in the battle for traffic and sales.

I have tried, used and dismissed hundreds of marketing tools over the past few years and it needs something very special to excite me and get the juices flowing, and very rarely a system of such a magnitude emerges, and once more the way forward with online marketing becomes clear.

The latest, and in my opinion, the one which will prove to be an on going giant for many years to come, is the Search Sub Engine.

What is a Search Sub Engine, what can it do for your marketing efforts and how do you make the best and most efficient use of it.

The Search Sub Engine is a brand new system of site submission, when I say site submission, I don't mean a way to submit your site to the Search Engines. This could be better described as a Search Engine within a Search Engine.

The Search Sub Engine works independently of, and is in no way directly connected to any of the Search Engines, but it has the power to drive unlimited amounts of targeted traffic to your website, blog or affiliate program.

It achieves this by gradually pushing your business listing upwards towards the #1 position for your search category. By rotating your listing towards it's pinnacle, it ensures that when your category is searched that you have an equal opportunity to receive your fair share of traffic, unlike any other program or method currently on offer, from the Search Engines, or for that matter anywhere else.

The Search Sub Engine allows you to list your business in a category, or categories that best suit your product for varying periods between 1 and 28 days. During that time your listing will gradually rotate towards the top search results within the Search Sub Engine, allowing you to receive the traffic you so dearly need.

Once you register with the Search Sub Engine, registration is free, and for the forseable future, so is your listing submission, you are privvy to some pretty special tools to help enhance your listing and get your website noticed.

You are able to create a headline for your business and utilize a full page to sell the benefits of your site or product, this page also includes a live link direct to your site, giving you, in effect, the opportunity to double sell your product to the surfer. You also have some very useful other tools at your disposal, you can add a sub headline to your listing, you can enhance your listing with bold text or color, you have a hits counter, allowing you to monitor the effectiveness of your sales copy, and if your not happy with your results you can alter or completely change everything at will, as often as you wish, until you achieve the desired results.

Comparing this method to a standard Search Engine, you will see the added benefits immediately, the Search Engine uses a snippet of the first few lines of your website when indexing, with the Search Sub Engine you choose the lines you wish to use. The Search Engine loses your site in amongst all the other millions of results far away from the #1 position, the Sub Search Engine actually pushes your site to the very top giving you a prime opportunity to make the most of the traffic you will receive.

The only stipulation you must meet to make use of the Search Sub Engine and all its excellent promotional tools is, your site must be available to view online, and nothing more. If your site meets that one criteria you can make the very best use of what is set to become the next giant in online marketing.

The Search Sub Engine is waiting to explode onto our screens and considering the costly or simply useless alternatives, I think it warrants serious consideration from you and every other professional marketer trading online now, or in the future.

Designing Your Website For Affiliate Marketing

If you want to be successful as an affiliate marketer, you have to have your own website. It doesn't have to be fancy, but it does need to look professional.

Have you seen those websites that are completely filled with banners? I call them banner farms. How many of those banners do you think that YOU would click on? Enough said!

Now that you know that you need a website, how do you get one? The first thing you need is a domain name. Ideally, it should contain the main keywords of your website's topic. But, you can start with using your own name - or a variation of it.

You will also need website hosting. Somewhere your website files can reside. There are many web hosting companies, but be careful that you get one that is reputable. Ask some of your online acquaintances who they use.

What about the design itself? I believe that simple is best, especially when you're not quite sure what you are doing. All you really need is a nice header set in a simple template.

One of the most difficult tasks for a new affiliate marketer is to learn how to create and maintain his or her own website. But, there is software available these days that makes it almost easy. You can also use Microsoft FrontPage or Macromedia Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is pretty expensive, and difficult to learn, for a beginner. You could also host your website with a company that has a "Site Builder," complete with design templates, included with the package. You just point, click and type in your content.

Some affiliate programs will provide you with an affiliate website that you can promote. The problem with these sites is that there is no way to build your own mailing list. Building your list is the number one reason you need your own website.

If you really believe that it's impossible for you to learn how to "do it yourself," there are many designers that you can find online that you can hire to do it for you. However, you still should learn how to add your content and affiliate product html codes yourself because it can get very expensive to have a designer do it for you.

You can do a Google search for "website designers" to find someone. There can be quite a difference in their fees so do a comparison among them. Look at their design portfolio and then make a list of the top ten (or so) companies or individuals that you are interested in. Record their fee, what all is included in their design package, and their contact information. Contact them to see if they are responsive to your inquiry. Compare them and then choose - carefully- the one you want.

In the long run, it doesn't matter how you get your website built, as long as you build one. It IS necessary to your long-term affiliate marketing success.

Does Microsoft Show Hackers How To Attack?

After another security hole recently surfaced in Microsoft's Windows operating system, the software giant released a patch this past Friday to plug the possibly devastating "back door" which allows hackers to potentially seize control of any pc running Windows.

The latest threat, "Download.Ject," infiltrates computers after users surfing with Microsoft's "Internet Explorer" web browser visit websites infected with the virus.

This newest security patch covers Windows XP, 2000, and Windows Server 2003.

Several factors make this latest development more disturbing than past discoveries of security problems with Internet Explorer, currently the most dominant web browser on the market.

First, it demonstrates very clearly that criminals discovered they can use the power of viruses to very profitably steal important bank, personal, and credit data from people on a large scale.

Second, it took Microsoft what many would consider a very long time to come up with a patch for this problem.

Before a fix appeared, Microsoft told everyone who uses Internet Explorer to stick their finger in the dyke by putting their web browser security settings on high, rendering it impossible to view or use features on many websites and web-based services.

Third, expect this to happen again as new holes open in the future when Microsoft makes Windows more complicated, adds layers of code, and generally makes the operating system more complex.

This may sound like business as usual, however, I think this story actually points to a much deeper problem, one for which I'm not sure a simple solution exists.

Though free and reasonably reliable, many people do not automatically update their Windows operating system through the update service on Microsoft's website. (I won't even get into how many people don't operate up-to-date anti-virus protection.)

Whenever Microsoft publishes a security update, especially for a highly publicized and obviously widespread security breach, thousands of people will not immediately download the update.

In fact, tens-of-thousands of users will not download these security updates for days, weeks, even months (if ever).

So let me ask what seems like a very elementary question: By publishing security updates that point out very obvious flaws in their system, doesn't Microsoft also point the way to exactly where the holes exist?

Let me put it another way.

Doesn't this rate the same as discovering that the local bank vault won't lock and then announcing the details on the front page of the paper along with the dates and times no bank guard will be on duty?

After all, if tens-of-thousands of users won't immediately get the Microsoft Security Patch, don't those patches show hackers exactly which holes get plugged (and which, logically, must already be open without the patch)?

It doesn't take a hacker with more than a basic set of skills to recognize where and what holes got fixed and then reverse-engineer how they can get into computers that don't get updated.

Now, do I have a concrete, 100% bullet-proof answer to this problem? Unfortunately, I don't have more than a common- sense answer...

At this point, your best defense rates staying current on the latest threats and how to defend against them.

Keep your anti-virus software current, your firewall up, and your Windows software updated with the latest security patches.

Though not a perfect solution, at least you'll have a fighting chance to prevent, or at least minimize, any possible threats.

What Are Focus Groups & How Do They Work?

Focus Groups, Surveys, & Other Market Research Opportunities Demystified

Businesses and other organizations use focus groups to research consumer and public opinion concerning a variety of issues. Corporations look to focus groups for general help in selling their products to the world at large instead of any type of direct marketing efforts.

Focus groups are usually conducted by Market Research companies. Market research companies are hired by the big corporations such as Coca-Cola and Nestle. The reason they do this is because the market research companies have the experience and expertise to make sure the focus groups are accurate and unbiased. If the corporations did this themselves they may not get impartial information and could make mistakes costing them millions of dollars (not to mention their jobs!)

So from here on out, when I talk about companies that conduct focus groups, I am referring to market research companies. These will be the companies whom you will contact, register with, and get paid from. This is VERY important for you to remember.

OK, so what kinds of focus groups exist? Well, generally there are two types: Offline and Online.

    Offline

These are small, roundtable discussion groups on topics ranging from the latest features on internetworking hardware to new flavors of ice cream. They usually involve about 10 participants plus the group leader or moderator. Each session usually lasts about 2 hours and the discussion is "focused" on a particular topic, about which group members share their opinions. An honorarium of $40-$80 for time and effort is very common. It is not unusual for observers from the client corporation to watch the group in action.

In focus groups, unlike telephone surveys, people can be shown products or ads and can be given an opportunity to express how they feel and what they think in a normal, conversational setting. As a research method, the use of focus groups is less about statistics and numbers and more about qualitative matters such as whether people find an ad humorous, and why they find it humorous, or if people believe a product is appealing and why they think so.

    Online

Online focus groups are a cost effective alternative to conventional "face-to-face" focus groups. Online focus groups generally invite 8 to 10 people to join for a specified period of time (90 minutes to two hours) in a specialized chat room. This controlled environment allows participants to view text, graphics, sounds/jingles, video or multimedia for evaluation and testing. It is not uncommon for observers from the client corporation to watch the group in action and send private messages to the co-moderators as the group is progressing.
